watery eyes

I think I’ve been looking at my computer screen too long cause my eyes are starting to water due to dry contacts.  However, I wanted to talk about something I pondered in biology this year.

So there we were, learning about animals.  And all that other stuff.  I don’t even know if it was animals, but at some point, the clear fact was made: we are animals.  This does not seem like a nice statement.   I think of animals as little, or big, fuzzy things running around killing bitches for food (like a mountain lion), or eating seeds or begging for bread (like ducks :-) ), etc.  This is when I came to a realization.

We are quite weird animals.  We would never make it in the real world.  I’m not talking about the real world like, having a job and family and all that stupid human stuff.  I’m talking about the real world, like the jungle or mountains or the tundra.  Let’s be serious, our shit would get owned.  Alright, maybe not all of us, since some people are quite the outdoors type, and know how to conveniently make a tiger trap out of plants and water.  Or whatever.  But if you threw us out into the jungle, no clothes, phone, other necessities, we would be awfully lost and confused.  So, in stating that, I guess it does make sense that we have big cities where no other predators would ever make it, but at the same time, as “animals”, it seems awfully confusing.

Why aren’t we aren’t there, ripping each other’s heads off and competing for land, food, mates.  Granted there are wars, and were wars, like in the Middle Ages and stuff, but why not now?  I mean, we are animals.  Are we that intelligent that we figured that big populations, working together, with governments, morals, standards would work?  Or are we so stupid that we can’t survive without the convenient-cies and technologies of today?  I mean, you don’t see monkey’s building cities and shit..

It also brings me to another, quite, scary thought.  I hope I don’t get murdered for this.  But going with the whole animal thing, it is easy to see how some people do become crazy lunatic killers.  I guess it is kind of Freud like too.  But as animals, isn’t it nature that what we think is what we do?  You don’t see tigers considering whether or not they should attack some antelope, or whatever they eat.  You don’t see fish considering whether or not they want that guy to impregnate them.  Sure, I can see the killers who like, randomly attack, but what if they felt threatened or harmed or something crazy like that.  Wouldn’t it be natural animal instinct to kill them?

Well I was have just been pondering for awhile.  Other than that, I’m off to watch the big screen and check my facebook, on my comfy couch, and maybe grab some convenient cranberry juice from the fridge.
